End Citizens United Fires Up Its Endorsements for 2018

As the reverberations of the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court Decision continue to upend campaign finance activities, the political action committee (PAC) End Citizens United is working tirelessly to mitigate the damage. Founded in 2015, the group was created to staunch the flow of corporate money into U.S. politics. There are a number of ways End Citizens United is supporting campaign finance reform, but, as the 2018 midterm elections approach, their efforts are currently focused on supporting reform-minded candidates.

End Citizens United is channeling its financial resources, raised entirely through grassroots efforts, 400,000 strong and growing, towards candidates who support finance reform. The group has already made a number of endorsements for 2018, and here are some the more prominent campaigns receiving help from End Citizens United.

Beto O’Rourke

Challenging one of the country’s most divisive politicians, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, O’Rourke has been a vocal supporter of campaign finance reform. Currently representing Texas’s 16 congressional district, he is one of only 6 members of the House of Representative to refuse contributions from big money donors and PACs.

Randy Bryce

Bryce was all set to challenge one of the GOP’s biggest names, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, in Wisconsin’s 1st congressional district. Ryan’s decision not to seek reelection must have been a welcome development, but the Army vet and former ironworker was already out-raising Ryan by a significant margin.

Jacky Rosen

Running against Senator Dean Heller of Nevada, a big-money tycoon, this congresswoman has plenty of experience fighting for campaign finance reform. As the representative from Nevada’s 3rd District, Rosen has sponsored or co-sponsored a number of campaign finance reform bills.

Elissa Slotkin

A former CIA agent, Slotkin will need to draw on those resources to outmaneuver incumbent Mike Bishop in Michigan’s 8th District. Bishop is one of 20 candidates on End Citizens United’s Big Money 20 list. He has voted against campaign finance limits throughout his career, and the PAC is hoping Slotkin will be the agent to take him down.

Brendan Kelly

Challenging another Big Money 20 incumbent, Kelly is an Illinois State Attorney with a storied record of challenging the rights of special interest groups.

Andy Kim

A former Rhodes Scholar, Kim is a first-time candidate who is among the several dozen candidates to take End Citizens United pledge, promising to forgo any corporate funding in his fight for New Jersey’s 3rd District.

History and Future of the End Citizens United Organization

Every so often, there are supreme court cases that send ripple effects across the country. The legendary Dred Scott vs. Sandford in 1857 and Roe vs. Wade in 1973 are old examples. However, the recent ruling in the Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission case in 2010 may just become a modern day landmark event. An article on the website Reporter Expert, breaks down what lead up to the ruling, the aftermath, and what is being done now with the formation of End Citizens United.

This case stems from a 2008 film attacking Hilary Clinton. Citizens United wanted to air the film, but the FCC blocked it due to Citizens United not revealing who had funded it. This lead to the FCC being sued and First Amendment rights being called into question. The supreme court ultimately ruled, in a 5-4 vote, that it didn’t matter if the one who funded the film was named or not. The movie can still air regardless. This decision essentially gives corporations unlimited power to sway an election. The ruling’s harmful side effects are what makes it very concerning.

With the Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission ruling in effect, companies can use targeted television and radio ads with no repercussions. In fact, it even gives the republications an advantage in future election due to their connections to rich donors and corporations. Naturally, democrats and countless organizations have strongly opposed this decision. Some even going so far as to propose an amendment to overturn the ruling.

Overall, there was one clear way to get results. The organization End Citizens United was formed in March 2015. The goal is to help democrat candidates who support better campaign finance laws and work towards a constitutional amendment. They have assembled a team of experts who are extremely knowledgeable and active in the political world. End Citizens United is currently well underway working on the upcoming 2018 midterm elections.

End Citizens United: Putting An End To Corruption In The Government

With all that has been happening in the American government, people are now dependent on political action committees to get their views and opinions across. One organization that has been receiving an incredible amount of support from people all over the country is End Citizens United. The goal of End Citizens United is a simple one, which is to bring about change in the government of America, but the path to that goal is a lot more complicated than it seems. With the incredible support that the organization has been seeing, coupled with people who are motivated to bring all the atrocities of the current government to light, End Citizens United has become a political action committee to watch out for.

End Citizens United identifies with the Democratic Party and sees them as the better choice for the people of America. The organization has a strong opinion that the Republican Party does not have the people’s best interests in mind, which is why they have come out with so many laws that do not resonate with what the people of America want. The organization has been able to bring to light several issues that the government has been hiding from the people. One such discovery that the group made was when they uncovered that all the ads that were being aired on Facebook, advertising for the Republican Party were managed and funded by a Russian organization. The country currently has a ban on foreign spending in political parties, to mitigate foreign involvement with the running of the country. However, the Republican party did not adhere to this when they published their Facebook ads, which is something that the people of America did not know before.

One of the striking reasons why the organization was formed in the first place was owing to the Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United which allowed corporations to spend as much money as they like on political parties, and did not have to state or give any information to tax departments on how much they were actually putting in. People started using this as a way to gain positions in the government and then worked to bring their interests to the forefront, regardless of whether or not the people living in the country wanted it. There are currently members of the Republican Party who have their positions in the government through this manner, even though they do not have the right qualifications to do so.

End Citizens United knows that unless there is a stop put to all of this, the nation is not going to see any progress, and people are going to be in the dark about what is happening in the government, which is precisely what they are working towards.

End Citizens United Demands For The Reversal Of A Court Order On Political Funding

End Citizens United was established on March 1st, 2015. This Political Action Committee (PAC) is largely sponsored by grass root donors. Their main objective is to oppose the grievous effects of Citizens United on elections and enhance reforms in financing campaigns. The entity focuses on showing the candidates, voters, press, and the elected officials that the grassroots are resisting the increased insensitivity of billionaires who are attempting to buy their elections. End Citizens United seeks to establish a broad alliance that will work towards reforming campaign finance and pressuring the legislators to take action.

The mission of End Citizens United is to fight against federal big money and dismantle their rigged system of politics by electing champions of campaign finance and passing measures of state ballot. The champions will be tasked with the duty of overturning Citizens United’s objectives. This way, they will end dark and unlimited political money. They will be able to achieve this objective by electing candidates who support reforms, making the issue of political money a priority of the nation, and using the membership of the grassroots to show political power. End Citizens United supports candidates who are committed to reforming the campaign finance system.

The ultimate goal of End Citizens United is to pass an amendment of the Constitution to reverse the decision made by the Supreme Court in Citizens United Case against FEC. The 2010 ruling led to the formation of super PACs because it gave power to the use of mysterious money in politics. The group is different from other PACs that zero in on reforming campaign finance. This is because they are focusing on supporting different persons vying for elective positions, especially those who will play a significant role in changing the existing laws. The entity will support Democratic candidates considering that they support the reform agenda. End Citizens United expects to pass reforms of campaign finance at the state and local level.

Recently, the group and some of the leading grassroots groups in the country met to launch a huge campaign, which was organized in all 50 states, to overcome the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. The record of Judge Gorsuch in politics shows that if he were confirmed, the citizens would face undisclosed spending in their elections. This situation would allow dark money to be used in the elections. Such bog money would have adverse influence on the democracy, minimizing the level at which the voices of American families can be heard. The campaign will capitalize on the massive demonstration of grassroots power, which shall stir resistance movements across the nation. These campaigns will include airport protests, the Women’s March, and actions that have dominated congressional phone lines and town halls. End Citizens United maintains their belief in the significance of transparency in political finance.

The Political Return Of George Soros Hits National And State Elections

The 2016 U.S. Presidential election cycle will be remembered as one of the most bitter and hardest fought between the two main candidates, but for Democrat’s these elections should be remembered as the moment major donor George Soros opened up a new series of strategies for continued election success. In the buildup to the 2016 election the Hungarian born hedge fund icon returned to political giving in a major way in support of Presidential nominee Hilary Clinton, he has also been seen as a guiding light for the future in the wake of the victory of Donald Trump; what is little known is the fact Soros has taken his fight to the state level where he has been making quiet inroads into Republican held public prosecutor elections on NYBooks.com that often pass by uncontested.

George Soros is one of the most respected members of the financial industry for the billions of dollars he has made as an investor in hedge funds and in making risky trades on foreign currency. Soros had committed around $27 million to the 2004 election campaign of John Kerry, but scaled back his giving in 2008 and 2012 as President Barrack Obama carved out his own path to success on many levels. Prompted by a reported 25 year relationship with Hillary Clinton and a sense he should have backed her in 2008, George Soros returned to political giving to the tune of $25 million towards the campaign of the former Secretary of State.

In the wake of the victory of Republican Donald Trump Soros made the decision to attend a Democracy Alliance event planned for major donors to the Democratic Party and major political figures on NYTimes.com. The Holocaust survivor had initially planned to sit out the event, but changed his schedule as he believes the Democratic Party sits at a crossroads for its future. George Soros is thought to have made around $1 billion in a single day betting on the 1992 devaluation of the British Pound and has recently gambled on making changes at state level by funding liberal candidates for district attorney and prosecutor positions in six states. The power held by prosecutors has rarely changed and a recent study found around 95 percent were white and three quarters male; Soros believes increased levels of representation should be found at state level for African-American communities and Hispanics he has backed with around $3.5 million in funding since 2015 for state level elections.
